More about me

Andrew Visagie - Clinical Psychologist

I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships and the world of work — not simply because I’ve studied these challenges, but because I’ve lived them. My own journey through substance abuse, hyper hidrosis, porn addiction, crippling anxiety and depression, and my healing via SHIP Psychotherapy from the age of 16, ignited my passion to become a psychotherapist myself. A trial by fire if you will. These experiences have given me firsthand insight into overcoming some of life’s toughest emotional storms.

Born in Pretoria and having lived in Cape Town, Durban, and New Zealand, I bring a diverse cultural and professional perspective to my practice. My career has spanned corporate, education, health, and psychology, with practical experience in individual and group therapy, forensic psychology, communication workshops, and conflict resolution interventions.

I have honed my expertise in relationships and communication through my training in Interactional Pattern Analysis. I apply this model not only in my workshops but also as a living methodology in my personal life. My marriage—sparked after only five months at age 35 to my clinical psychologist wife—has served as a proving ground for our joint project, “This Relationship Thing”, a program designed both for marriage preparation and rescue. Our personal journey together underscores the transformative power of authentic communication and connection.

In addition to my work in mental health and relationships, I have been pioneering modern career guidance since 2006. My process, encapsulated in my program RockRabbit—which was also the focus of my MSc thesis in 2014—is dedicated to helping individuals discover the greatness within. RockRabbit is not just about choosing a career; it’s a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and aligning one’s inner potential with the demands of today’s dynamic work environment.

At the foundation of all my work is a deep-rooted passion for neuroscience. I believe that true healing, whether it’s restoring mental health, nurturing relationships, or forging a rewarding career, hinges on our ability to regenerate hope, earn our dose of dopamine, and live a life characterized by authenticity, joy, and connection.

I am a husband and father of two—a lover of life and beauty—who believes in the power of genuine human connection. Through practical, science-backed strategies, my goal is to guide you not only towards better mental and relational health but also to help you carve out an occupation that truly fulfills you.

My practice is a melding pot of all these elements—emotional resilience, relational mastery, and career empowerment—crafted to enable you to lead a truly fulfilling life.
